It's difficult to describe exactly what the "Wonder Project" is and does! "Sensory Arts Experiences" is how Phillida of Rosan.ie describes it. Senior 2 students arrived at the Axis, not quite knowing what to expect. They were welcomed with a personalised "Hello song" and invited to lie down. Over the course of the next 45 minutes, they were gently prompted to toss light silk scarves and feathers about and up in the air with the help of two huge rotary fans. They listened to music while a long silk tarp was floated and billowed over them. They watched (and some copied) a gymnast move around the green carpet area and had a turn each with Michael, the violinist who played up close for each student, one at a time, and let them hold his violin to feel its vibrations. They were in the enclosed area of the stage at the Axis theatre. There was no audience. Senior 2 students were the performers AND the audience in their own theatrical, sensory, immersive event. Well done to Phillida and her team. It was a hugely enriching experience for our students.
